In der fernen Welt des Feuers, Muspellsheim, herrscht der mächtige Feuerriese Surt. Eines Tages zertrennt Surt mit seinem Feuerschwert Surtalogi die Verbindung zwischen unserer Welt Midgard und der Götterwelt Asgard, den Regenbogen Bifröst.

Dann schleudert er Feuer in alle Richtungen, steckt die Welt in Brand und vernichtet alles Leben. Im Ragnarök oder Weltenbrand muss die Welt im Feuer untergehen, um wieder geboren zu werden.
